Bungie laid out how Marathon’s seasons will work: new zones/events/gear for everyone, no paid DLC… and a seasonal reset that wipes gear/progression (cosmetics stay).

What it means for gamers: if you love “fresh start” PvPvE chaos, this keeps the playing field from turning into a museum of giga-sweats. If you love long-term hoarding, this is Bungie politely saying: “that pile of loot is temporary, your screenshots are forever.”
