Nvidia brings GeForce NOW to Linux in native beta form (Flatpak)

NVIDIA has launched a native Linux beta for GeForce NOW, distributed via Flatpak—aimed at making cloud gaming smoother on mainstream Linux desktops.

The native app is positioned as an upgrade over browser streaming, with higher performance ceilings depending on plan and hardware decode support. For Linux players, that matters because cloud gaming is often the workaround for titles without native support.

The fine print is still important: driver versions, supported distros, codecs, and how stable the beta feels outside the “officially supported” targets. But directionally, it’s a big vote of confidence in Linux as a gaming platform—not just a hobbyist sideline.
