UK tribunal clears the way for a £900m PC-store lawsuit — and Epic’s CEO is cheering

A UK competition tribunal has ruled that a major consumer lawsuit alleging a dominant PC game storefront overcharged UK customers can proceed. The claim argues the platform’s market position and policies helped keep prices higher than they should be.

Adding fuel to the story, Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney publicly voiced support, framing the case as scrutiny of a long-standing “30%” commission standard and related restrictions.

If the suit gains momentum, it could increase pressure for alternative payment terms, looser parity policies, or other changes that affect how PC games are priced and distributed in the UK and beyond.
