Black Flag Resynced Sets Sail in July, But Switch 2 Players Are Still Waiting on the Dock
Ubisoft has finally pulled the curtain off Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, a full remake of the beloved pirate entry, scheduled for 9 July 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The pitch is not just prettier water and shinier cutlasses: Ubisoft is promising a faithful recreation with quality-of-life changes, modernized visuals, new content, and a stronger current-gen technical foundation.
For gamers, this is one of those remakes that could either become a perfect “my first Assassin’s Creed” entry or another reminder that nostalgia is expensive. The original Black Flag remains popular because it was part stealth game, part pirate fantasy, and part open-world vacation with cannon fire.
The awkward bit is that Switch 2 has not been confirmed, despite Nintendo’s new hardware seemingly being capable of handling big third-party ports. That leaves portable players in limbo. For everyone else, this could be Ubisoft’s most crowd-pleasing move in years—provided the remake feels like a real modernization, not a collector’s edition wearing a new hat.
